Ready to Build?
Converting your bike is a rewarding project. This guide walks you through the standard process for a hub motor kit.
Tools Needed
- Wrench set (especially 15mm for pedals/wheels)
- Screwdrivers
- Cable ties in various sizes
- Bike pump
Step 1: Wheel Swap
Remove your old wheel. Transfer the tire and tube to the new motorized wheel. Install the motorized wheel, ensuring the axle is seated fully in the dropouts.
Step 2: Component Mounting
Attach the brake levers (with cut-off sensors), throttle, and display to your handlebars. Mount the controller box in a safe spot, usually on the frame.
Step 3: Wiring It Up
Connect the motor cable to the controller. Connect the display, throttle, and brakes to the controller. Use color-coded plugs to avoid mistakes. Secure loose wires with zip ties.
Step 4: Battery Installation
Mount the battery bracket to your bottle cage mounts or rear rack. Slide the battery in and lock it. Connect the power cable to the controller.
Final Checks
Lift the motorized wheel off the ground and gently test the throttle. Check all bolts. You are ready to ride!
