Cheap vs. Value
Everyone loves a bargain, but when it comes to electric cycles, "cheap" shouldn't mean unsafe. Here is how to find affordable options that are still reliable.
What to Look For
1. Lithium-Ion Batteries
Avoid Lead-Acid batteries. They are heavy, have short lifespans, and are false economy. Ensure even a cheap e-bike has a Lithium-Ion battery.
2. Frame Warranty
A manufacturer who stands behind their frame usually produces a decent product. Look for at least a 1-year warranty.
3. Serviceability
Can you find spares easily? A cheap bike becomes expensive if you can't replace a worn-out brake pad or tire.
Where to Find Deals
Check for festive sales, end-of-season clearances, or consider DIY kits to upgrade an old cycle for a fraction of the cost.
