The Ecosystem of an E-Bike Kit
An electric cycle kit isn't just a motor; it's a system of working parts. Understanding each component helps in maintenance and troubleshooting.
The Motor
The powerhouse of your bike. It converts electrical energy into mechanical energy to propel you forward. Brushless DC (BLDC) motors are the standard for their efficiency and durability.
The Battery
The fuel tank. Lithium-ion batteries are preferred for their light weight and high energy density. Proper battery care is essential for longevity.
The Controller
The brain. It regulates the flow of power from the battery to the motor based on your throttle or pedal input. A good controller ensures smooth acceleration and protects the system from overloads.
Throttle and PAS
The inputs. The throttle allows manual speed control, while the Pedal Assist System (PAS) detects your pedaling and activates the motor automatically. Most kits offer both.
